Crocodiles are large reptiles found in tropical regions of Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Australia. They can be up to 7-15ft long and weigh up from anywhere between 150-450 pounds. A crocodile's body is very long. It's tail is very muscular and it helps it swim a lot better and faster. The eyes, nostrils, and the ears are the highest parts of the head. These organs are always above the water when the rest of the body is in the water. It's two nostrils are very close together. When it doves into the water the nostrils close so it can keep any water from going in it's nostrils. Even if a crocodile's mouth is open underwater it will still be able to breathe because of it's nostrils being above the water. The muscles that close a crocodile's jaws are capable of generating a lot of power. The muscles that open a crocodile's mouth are very weak. People could hold a crocodile's mouth closed with their bare hands.
