The harp sponge is a carnivorous sponge. These sponges do not filter water for food like most sponges, they capture their prey is a velcro like snare and then begin to slowly decompose their prey. These sponges can be found on the deep sea floor off of the coast on California. Live on soft dirt like ground at 3300 to 3500 meters. These sponges have multiple veins to increase their chances of obtaining food and also have a swollen ball at the top of each vein that produces sperm.
